South Petherton is a small village in the county of Somerset, England. It is situated on the River Parrett, close to the county town of Taunton. The population of South Petherton is around 1,400 people and encompasses a number of adjacent localities, such as West Lambrook and Renscombe.

South Petherton is home to the Somerset Motor Racing Club (SMRC), which began in 1976 and is one of the oldest motor racing clubs in the United Kingdom. Following the success of the South Petherton track, it was chosen as the venue for the British Automobile Racing Club's national Championships in 1992.
