More information about Newport Pagnell

Newport Pagnell is a town in Buckinghamshire, a county of England, United Kingdom (UK). It lies approximately 65 kilometres north west of London and has a population of 8,724 in the 2011 Census. With its close proximity to the motorways, it is the perfect place for many of its inhabitants who work in the car industry and motorsport sectors to reside. The local economy of Newport Pagnell is bolstered by a number of different industries, most notably the automotive, finance and motorsport sectors.

The town of Newport Pagnell has been inextricably linked to the car industry for nearly a century. During the 1950s, it was home to a large number of car factories and motor shops, making it an ideal location for car manufacturers of the time. In 2013, automotive giant McLaren Automotive opened their engineering base in the town, further cementing Newport Pagnell's reputation as a hub for all aspects of the automotive industry.

McLaren are something of an exception in Newport Pagnell, as the majority of companies based in the town are financially oriented. One of the most successful of these is asset management firm M&G Investments, who were founded in the town in 1936 and remain one of its largest employers. In addition to M&G, several financial services firms, including wealth management company Lombard Odier, operate in the town, providing a significant source of revenue for the local economy.

The long history of car and finance industries may give the impression that Newport Pagnell is a sleepy town which is focused primarily on these areas. However, this could not be further from the truth. Newport Pagnell is also home to one of the most well-known motorsports venues in the UK. Silverstone Circuit, 26 kilometres from town, was established in 1948 and regularly hosts some of the most prestigious events in international motorsport, including Formula 1, MotoGP and 24 Hours of Le Mans.

As well as the financial and automotive sectors and motorsport, Newport Pagnell is home to a thriving tourism industry. Its historic High Street is populated with independent shops, ranging from boutique clothing stores to luxury jewellers. The town also hosts a wide range of colourful events throughout the year, such as the Newport Pagnell Carnival and the popular Art in the Park festival.

The population of Newport Pagnell is largely composed of lower and middle-income households. According to the 2011 Census, 39.6% of the town's population was aged under 24, and the median age of its inhabitants was 37. The median household income of its residents was £24,232, and the average price of a house in 2017 was recorded at £423,054.

Though residents of Newport Pagnell may find its car factories and financial services a little too staid, the town has proven to be a hub for the automotive and finance industries and a popular venue for many motorsport events. Furthermore, it boasts a vibrant tourism sector and is populated by an eclectic mix of lower and middle-income households. Clearly, Newport Pagnell provides many benefits to both its residents and visitors alike.
