Grangemouth is a town in central Scotland, located in the Falkirk council area and situated at the mouth of the River Forth. It is located midway between Glasgow and Edinburgh and is approximately 18 miles away from both cities. Grangemouth has a population of around 17,000 and is the 29th largest settlement in Scotland.

The history of Grangemouth is linked to the car industry, finance industry, and motorsports industry. Evidence of early industrial activity can be seen in the area that dates as far back as the 17th century. By the late 19th century, Grangemouth had become a bustling town, with a range of industries, from whisky distilleries, chemical plants and paper mills, to shipbuilding and car production.

Grangemouth is the only place in Scotland where the car industry is located. The first motor car to be built in the area was unveiled in 1939 by the North British Company Manufacturing of Grangemouth. This car was named the North British Corsair and it was the first production car in Scotland. Today, Grangemouth is home to the Grangemouth Vehicle Assembly Plant, which was opened by Honda in 1992 and is now the only car manufacturing plant in Scotland. The plant currently produces a range of Honda cars, from the Jazz to the CR-V.

Grangemouth is also home to many finance companies.
