Forest Row is a village situated in East Sussex located in the South East of England. It lies on the border of the Ashdown Forest, an area of heathland and woodland which is protected by law. The village was settled by the Normans and had become a bustling market town by the 12th century. It is best known for its connections to the car industry, finance industry and motorsport and is home to some of the most famous names in racing and the motor world.

The car industry has been of particular significance to Forest Row. The village was home to some of the biggest names in the British motor industry. Since the 1940s, Forest Row has been a mecca for motor sport enthusiasts from across the country. The world-famous Lotus Sport team was based in the village and it was here that the iconic Lotus Cortina was constructed in 1965. Although production ceased in 1976, Lotus Sport stayed in Forest Row until 2009. The village also houses the headquarters of several leading automotive parts manufacturers such as Gloucester-based AG Machinery, and the Sutton Coldfield-based Allenwood Mouldings.

Forest Row is also a centre for finance. The village is home to the East Sussex Based banking group Southern Cross, who provide pensions and insurance services. The estate of Lord Rothschild is located just outside Forest Row and the Rothschild family have had a presence in the village for generations.

Graham raced in a number of competitions including the British C1 and C2 Championships, the Pau Grand Prix and the British Saloon Car Championship. Brian Gilbert, who was part of the British team that took third place in the 1974 Daytona 24 Hours, was also associated with the village.
