Beverley is a small market town and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated in a valley on the River Hull. After World War II, the remains of the plant were bought by Vauxhall Motors and used to produce the iconic Viva HC saloon and the Vauxhall Chevette hatchback. Production of these cars continued up until the early 1980s and the Vauxhall Chevette is still seen as a classic car to this day.

Beverley's finance industry also dates back to the early 1920s when J.H. Taylor Banking Co, a local private bank, was established in the town. Mr Tayor had previously been a partner at a local clothiers and drapery store, and had retained a number of investments, ranging from mining to building companies.
In 1929, J.H Taylor Banking Co was taken over by Lloyds and the business was renamed Lloyds Bank in Beverley, and the following year, Mr Taylor was appointed as the bank's first Managing Director.
